Daniel Ebenyo and Kipriu set new Okpekpe course marks to win crowns for the first time

Daniel Ebenyo of Kenya and Caroline Chepkoech Kipriu of Kazakhstan won the 2023 Okpekpe International 10km road event, setting new Course Records. Daniel Ebenyo of Kenya and Caroline Chepkoech Kipriu of Kazakhstan won the ninth edition of the Okpekpe International 10km road race for the first time, setting new Course Records. Ebenyo beat defending champion Yasin Haji of Ethiopia in 28:28, while Kipriu won her first Okpekpe championship in 32:38 in her debut competition. In a post-race interview, race organizer Itemuagbor expressed his delight in attracting two of the top 20 10km runners in the event's history, Daniel Ebenyo from Kenya and Yasin Haji, the defending champion from Ethiopia."Ebenyo is the fourteenth fastest man in the history of the event, while Haji is just next to him as the fifteenth best," said Itemuagbor. Kipriu winning the title in a new CR was a befitting birthday present for the Kazakhstani, who turned 29 on the eve of the historic race.
