'Mommy Rocket' Fraser-Pryce wins historic Laureus Sportswoman of the Year

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has won the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year Award after being nominated five times. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has earned the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year Award for 2022, a well-deserved honor for a track legend. The Jamaican had an unforgettable 2022 season, winning five World Championships in the 100m and becoming the oldest sprinter to do it.Her triumph occurred over fourteen years after she won her first world 100m title, making her the oldest World Champion in any individual track event. She grabbed silver medals in the 200m and 4x100m relays, bringing her total to three in the World Championships in Oregon.Fraser-Pryce surpassed the 10.70s mark in the 100m seven times throughout last year, one of those performances – her 10.67s in Oregon. She capped her season at the Diamond League final in Zurich, winning her fourth 100m Diamond Trophy in a Meeting Record (MR) of 10.65s.
