NCAA Onwuzurike obtains an entry to the Budapest World Championships

Udodi Onwuzurike is the latest Nigerian athlete to earn a spot at the Budapest World Championships. In the 200-meter event, Udodi Onwuzurike has become the first male athlete from Nigeria to automatically qualify for the World Championships in Budapest. Onwuzurike won the 200-meter race at the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday with a timing of 20.14s (1.8). By exceeding the automatic qualifying requirement of 20.16s, the speedster became the first Nigerian male athlete to secure a spot at the World Championships in Budapest. The 20-year-old had a fantastic start to the season when he broke his Personal Best (PB) in the 60m on several occasions. Then at the NCAA indoor championships, Onwuzurike was the joint-best performer in the men's 200m semifinals, storming to an outstanding 20.17s to win his race and advance to the final.
