World Athletics prohibits transgender women from female events

The World Athletics Council has prohibited transgender athletes from competing in female events and imposed new DSD athlete regulations. This decision becomes effective on March 31, 2023. Transgender athletes are not permitted to compete in female events, according to the World Athletics Council. It was announced at the 230th World Athletics Council meeting and later published on the athletics governing body's website, stating several important decisions regarding the future participation of the Russian and Belarusian Member Federations in athletics, new DSD athlete regulations, and the official ban on transgender athletes competing in female events. The World Athletics president, Sebastian Coe, announced the ban at the council meeting, and it goes into effect on March 31, 2023.
