Tobi Amusan sets an African record with a thrilling victory to start the 2024 season in Astana

Tobi Amusan, competing in her first race of the year, smashed a 25-year-old African Record and won spectacularly. World Record holder Tobi Amusan began her 2024 season with a new African Record (AR) for an unprecedented victory in Astana. Now, not only is she back on the winning track, but she's back to her best.In what was her first race of the year, Amusan easily won the qualifying 60-meter hurdles heat in 7.91 seconds. Less than an hour later, she returned to the World Athletics Indoor Tour final in Astana and defeated a strong field that included former world champion Nia Ali with an impeccable time of 7.77 seconds.
