In 2024, Favour Ashe of Auburn University set a world record that nearly surpassed the Nigerian record. Favour Ashe, the former fastest man in Nigeria, is back and better than ever this season, having set a world record in 2024.At the Harvey Glance Tide & Tigers Dual Meet in Birmingham, Alabama, Ashe dominated the 60-meter event, clocking in a ridiculously fast 6.53 seconds to triumph against Jekovan Rhetta in 6.66 seconds and Makanaishe Charamba in 6.72 seconds.Since making his indoor debut in 2022, Ashe has opened with a time of 6.53 seconds. Many now believe he can surpass Deji Aliu's 6.48 second national record and perhaps shatter the collegiate record as well.
