Ballon d'Or: Nigeria make African history at Ballon d’Or awards

Nigeria is the first African nation to simultaneously nominate a male and female player for the Ballon d'Or. Since the awards' inception, no player from Nigeria or another African nation has ever had both male and female candidates for a Ballon d'Or trophy.Two Nigerian football talents were nominated for the award, though, following a strong season in both the men's and women's games. As they make history for Africa, this marks the first time that both male and female Nigerian players have been nominated for this award.
