Nigerians are devastated as Tobi Amusan places sixth in Budapest

Tobi Amusan finished sixth, and Danielle Williams unexpectedly won the women's 100-meter hurdles world championship in Budapest. Tobi Amusan of Nigeria, who held the world record in the women's 100-meter hurdles, lost her title after placing sixth in the final at the World Championships in Budapest in a respectable time of 12.62 seconds. Amusan was competing under pressure as the defending champion and with the dreams of millions of Nigerians to win a medal, but she was unable to find the same level of speed that allowed her to win the world title in Oregon last year. The race didn't live up to expectations based on the times as everyone expected them to go faster considering the quality of the field, but Amusan will take solace in the fact that her WR is still intact and she gave her best after a rough past few weeks.
