This season, Ofili has struggled with injuries, and this was her first international competition since winning a silver medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas won the event in 22.31 seconds, beating out Great Britain's Daryll Neita and Spain's Jael Bestue. Ofili qualified for the semifinal because her time was quick enough to finish in one of the non-automatic qualifying slots. As a result, Akintola qualified for the semifinals automatically. Both Ofili and Akintola will run in the semifinals, hoping to get a final spot, which will be the first time for a Nigerian athlete in so many years.
