Day 3's performance for Team Nigeria was another letdown as Ezekiel Nathaniel and Rosemary Chukwuma were unable to make it to the Budapest finals of their respective competitions. On Day 3 of the World Championships in Budapest, Ezekiel Nathaniel and Rosemary Chukwuma of Nigeria were unable to advance in their semifinal events. In the semifinal, Nathaniel, the male 400-meter hurdles national record holder, ran 49.22 seconds rather than bettering his qualifying heat time of 48.47 seconds. He placed sixth.He exited in the semifinals for the second event in a row; he also did so at the Oregon 2022 World Championships. Chukwuma also didn't advance to the women's 100 m final after placing eighth in her semifinal race in a dismal 11.24 seconds. With both athletes out, Nigeria is yet to have a finalist in the sprint events at the ongoing World Championships in Budapest.
