Itsekiri and Ogunlewe reach the 100-meter semifinals at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest

Usheoritse Itsekiri and Seye Ogunlewe of Nigeria will both compete in the 100-meter semifinals at the World Championships in Budapest after automatically qualifying from their respective heats. Usheoritse Itsekiri and Seye Ogunlewe, two of the fastest men in Nigeria, impressively got to the 100-meter semifinals in the present World Championships in Budapest. Itsekiri finished third in the heat with a respectable time of 10.17 seconds, just ahead of African Record holder Ferdinand Omanyala and World 200m Champion Noah Lyles, who ran 9.95 seconds (-0.6).Ogunlewe, meanwhile, posted a quicker time of 10.07s to take third place and a position in the automatic qualifying round. Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain beat Ryiem Forde in 10.01s by relying on his top-end speed to win in 10.00s (0.0). Meanwhile, Favour Ashe was disqualified for a false start in heat 5. Jamaica's Oblique Seville powered away from the field to win in an equal PB of 9.86s (0.0,finishing ahead of defending champion Fred Kerley in 9.99s, while Henrik Larsson was 3rd in 10.16s.Itsekiri and Ogunlewe will be running in a stacked semis heat for spots in the final.
