Ed Sheeran was found not guilty of plagiarism in the song 'Lets Get It On' by Marvin Gaye

A Manhattan district judge cleared British pop star Ed Sheeran of any wrongdoing in a complaint brought against him by Marvin Gaye's estate.The Grammy winner was taken before a Manhattan court by the estate of iconic R&B musician Marvin Gaye over claimed plagiarism of the posthumous 1973 single 'Lets Get It On.'On May 3, 2023, U.S. District Judge Louis Stanton ruled a jury should consider if the hit creator is accountable to the estate of Marvin Gaye and the heirs of late producer Ed Townsend, who co-wrote the song with Gaye.The other defendants in the case were Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Atlantic Records through whom the music was released. Ed Sheeran denied any wrongdoing and even stated that he will leave music if he is found guilty.
