The CEO of the Recording Academy provides insight into the Grammy Award winning process.Nigerian music lovers were very interested in the 66th Grammy Awards, which took place in Los Angeles on February 5, 2024, and were hoping that someone from Nigeria would win.After the 66th Grammy Awards, disappointments ensued when Burna Boy, Davido, Asake & Olamide, and Ayra Starr failed to win any of their ten nominations combined.Harvey Mason, President of the Recording Academy Board of Trustees, states that the Academy judges each song on its merit and that the winners are chosen annually by the members of the Academy. While answering questions from journalists on the process that goes on behind the scenes to determine the winner, Mason said that the Academy only considers the quality of each submitted song and that alone informs the choice of the winner.
