In 2024, AMVCA will move its acting prizes from public voting to jury selection

Lagos, Nigeria will host the awards ceremony in May 2024.The public vote for the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) Best Actor or Best Actress in a Leading or Supporting Role categories is now closed.This year, a select jury will choose the winners for this category rather than the usual open vote method. This is in response to criticism that big-name actors with large social media followings win the most awards rather than the actors who act the best.There will be sixteen non-voting categories in all, including Best Director, Art Direction, Cinematography, and Costume Design; Best Lead and Supporting Actor and Actress; Best Movie and TV Series; Best Writing in a Movie and TV Series; Best Short Film, Best Documentary, and Best Sound Design, Editing, and Makeup.
