PGMOL suspends referee after elbowing Liverpool's Robertson

The Premier League’s refereeing body, PGMOL, has suspended assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis after an incident during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Anfield involving Reds’ defender Andy Robertson.  Against Arsenal, Robertson takes an elbow to the throat. During the game, at the sound of the half-time whistle, Robertson approached the linesman, asking for an explanation for an earlier decision, but was elbowed in the throat by Hatzidakis. Hatzidakis will be barred from playing in Premier League games until the investigation is completed. There are questions about whether Hatzidakis intentionally elbowed Robertson or if he was attempting to free himself from the defender's grasp after images emerged showing the Liverpool player with his arm over the referee's. While the matter is being investigated, PGMOL has asked Hatzidakis to step down from refereeing duties until the investigation is finished, at which point appropriate action will be taken if necessary. The suspension is indefinite and is expected to last until the panel of referees determines whether or not there was foul play or malice involved in Hatzidakis' altercation with Robertson.
