Newcastle's poor performance was evident when they lost miserably at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. Chelsea needed to defeat the Magpies since they had lost their past two Premier League games.They defeated Newcastle 3-2 with ease, maintaining their 11th-place standing in the Premier League.
