Chelsea advanced to the EFL Cup semifinals by defeating Newcastle in penalty shootouts. Chelsea was granted a reprieve from execution and an opportunity to retry in penalty shootouts, which Pochettino's team prevailed in to move on to the EFL Cup's next round, thanks to a late goal by Mhykhailo Mudryk.Chelsea supporters are still heartbroken about league football, but at least they have comfort in the EFL Cup.
