Messi does not receive a UEFA award as Haaland and Guardiola do

Despite helping PSG advance to the Round of 16 in the Champions League, Lionel Messi of Argentina was not given the 2022–2023 UEFA trophy. The prizes for the best manager and best player (Men and Women) were presented at an event at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. UEFA announced the nominees for the men's coach of the year and player of the year a few weeks ago.Three players—Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium & Manchester City), Erling Haaland (Norway & Manchester City), and Lionel Messi (Argentina & Paris, currently at Inter Miami)—were nominated for men's player of the year. While Josep Guardiola (Manchester City), Simone Inzaghi (Inter), and Luciano Spalletti (Napoli) were the candidates for men's coach of the year. However, Messi missed out on the award as Haaland won the men's player of the year for the first time and Guardiola won the men’s coach of the year.
