Controversy as UEFA snubs Vinicius, picks Messi, Haaland and De Bruyne for Men's player of the year award
UEFA has unveiled the top three contenders for the 2022–23 UEFA Men's Player of the Year award, but Vinicius Jr. is not among them. The UEFA technical study group selected the players on the initial shortlist based on how well they performed for their clubs and national teams in the 2022–23 season.Messi, Haaland, and De Bruyne made the list of the top three players for the 2022–2023 season, which was eventually whittled down to three individuals.
