Dala Inland Port opens for business and receives its first shipment for export
The inland dry port, according to the MD, will facilitate freight delivery from the manufacturer's door to the consumers'.Alhaji Ahmad Rabiu, Managing Director of Dala Inland Dry Port (DIDP), claims the port has begun commercial operations after receiving the first shipment.Rabiu made the remarks on Friday during the formal introduction of DIDP to customs, clearing and forwarding agents, and other stakeholders at the company's Kano office.He added that the port had capacity of 20,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) and called on all stakeholders to patronise it. In his remarks, the Representative of Kano/Jigawa Customs Area Command, Sambo Khalil, assured of the service commitment and support for the successful take-off of the dry port. Also speaking, John Jenkins of SIFAX Cargo Handling and Logistics, called for a synergy to sanitise the system. Jenkins also promised to provide effective service delivery for customers. He emphasized the management's commitment to enforcing international standards and best practices in cargo handling at the site. According to him, the organization would foster an environment conducive to seamless and improved service delivery.
