Lack of dollars:Tanzania becomes Kenya's source of cash

It has been difficult for importers and manufacturers of ordinary goods to carry out their duties due to a paucity of US dollars. The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) issued an order instructing commercial banks to limit the amount of dollars they distribute after there eventually became a shortage of dollars and a rush to protect reserves. Several Kenyan firms have started importing dollars from Tanzania and other surrounding countries because the commercial banks in Kenya are running out of US dollars.
