IATA warns Nigeria after $802 million in airline cash are trapped

The International Air Transport Association, a trade organisation for international airlines located in Switzerland, recently released data showing that the total amount of foreign airlines' detained funds in Nigeria has increased to $802 million. IATA thus alerted the Nigerian government that the situation would impede air connectivity, economic expansion, and the growth of the nation's aviation industry. During the Monday launch of "Focus Africa," a new project aiming at enhancing aviation's contribution to Africa's economic and social development, IATA Director-General Willie Walsh gave a speech. Also, the project will increase shippers' and passengers' access to connectivity, security, and dependability. "This is a very critical problem for airlines and IATA since airlines may be forced to limit their service in the nations restricting money. It may have an impact on the expansion of African aviation, according to Walsh.
