After ten years, China's investment in Tanzania totals $1.8 billion

China has invested $1.8 billion in Tanzanian projects in the ten years since President Xi Jinping's previous visit. According to Mr. Gilead Teri, executive director of the Tanzania Investment Center, Chinese investment has had a significant impact on the country in terms of trade investment, job creation, and relationships (TIC). "In the last ten years, China has registered 1,908 projects worth $1.6 billion on the mainland and 15 projects worth $220 million in Zanzibar," he said. He made the remarks at a conference commemorating President Xi Jinping's ten-year visit to Tanzania. Mr. Teri listed several industries in which China has invested over the years, including manufacturing, tourism, and agriculture. He was optimistic that the government would increase its spending in order for China and other investors to invest more money in Tanzania.
