The deadline for the second phase of SIM disconnections is announced by telcos

The NIMC data indicate that 104 million NINs have been granted thus far, out of the 224.7 million active mobile phone lines in the nation.The second round of SIM disconnections is set for Friday, March 29, 2024, and telecom firms have stated that they would follow through on this day.Following the most recent disconnection effort, which resulted in the removal of over 40 million unregistered SIM cards from the major Telcos, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued an order. The NIN-SIM linkage policy was initially introduced in December 2020 with the FG directing that all telecom operators in the country should disconnect every SIM card not registered with a valid National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th 2020.
