FG and MDAs owe DisCos ?100 billion in debt, which they regret not paying on time

In order for DisCos to function effectively, the government and consumers must pay their power bills. The Federal government has been asked by electricity distributors to investigate the outstanding debt of around ?100 billion that government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) owe to distribution companies (DisCos). In a recent interview with Arise TV, Sunday Oduntan, the Executive Director of the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, revealed this.Oduntan urged the FG to settle the outstanding debt of ?100 billion owing to power distribution businesses, while underscoring the necessity for the FG to create a supportive climate for energy distributors in the nation.Checks have shown that the ?100 billion debt now referred to as the ‘Legacy Debt’ of the FG to the 11 distribution companies (DisCos) has been a serious challenge, with no decisive action in sight for some time.
