Plans for a regional resilience strategy to address crises are unveiled by ECOWAS

Over the next ten years, there will likely be more natural disasters that cause losses for the West African countries.In order to address crises within the region, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has revealed intentions to create a regional resilience strategy with strong early warning systems and efficient coordination.This was announced by Mustapha Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), at a Consultation Workshop for the Regional Stakeholders on Tuesday in Abuja.According to Ahmed, the member nations of ECOWAS have been hit by a string of calamities, crises, and conflicts that have put normal lives, people's means of subsistence, and sustainable economic growth and development in jeopardy.
