Gas marketers lament non-implementation of tax waivers on LPG products
The Nigeria Customs Service has not yet complied with the mandate from the FG, as observed by the LPG stakeholders.Gas industry stakeholders have petitioned the appropriate authorities to start offering tax breaks on goods related to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).Under the auspices of the Nigeria Association of LPG Marketers, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) was criticized by the National President Oladapo Olatunbosun and other stakeholders for not adhering to the presidential direction to suspend import tariffs on LPG imports. Remember that the Presidency has ordered the exemption from VAT and duty payment of certain commodities, including LPG cylinders, LPG cascades, gas leak detectors, steel pipes, steel valves and fittings, LPG dispensers, gas generators, and LPG trucks. This was done to improve LPG supply in order to fulfill local demand and to curb the rising market price of LPG.
