95% of malaria fatalities globally in 2022 occurred in Africa, according to a WHO research

The World Health Organization (WHO) today released its 2023 World Malaria Report, which includes new data showing an increase in malaria cases worldwide between 2019 (pre-pandemic) and 2022.Over this time, there was a 16 million increase in cases, from 233 million to 249 million. Compared to 233 million instances prior to the pandemic, this number is currently 7% higher. With 94% of malaria cases and 95% of deaths worldwide, Africa continues to bear the greatest burden of malaria overall, according to the report. Nonetheless, the five million extra instances that were reported between 2021 and 2022 were primarily found in five nations: Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Uganda, and Pakistan.
