Cooking gas scarcity hits several states as residents lament price increase

Presently, people are looking for other ways to cook in Abuja, Lagos, Katsina, Sokoto, Delta, Kaduna, and Kano. The reality of dealing with cooking gas shortages is currently plaguing Nigerians throughout the nation as the commodity's price continues to soar. While gas plants sell the product for between ?1,100 and ?1,200 per kilogram, the black market price of 12.5KG cooking gas currently ranges between ?13,500 and ?14,000.Living in Abuja, Lagos, Katsina, Sokoto, Delta, Kaduna, and Kano, people are currently searching for other cooking supplies because the commodity is still hard to come by, a problem that retailers have bemoaned. Lagos state is currently experiencing a shortage of cooking gas supplies, according to Oladapo Olatunbosun, President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers. “In my own gas plant, I sell at ?950 per 1kg. So, by all means, the masses should try not to patronise those that don’t have gas plants because they will also add their profit. Those people are also part of the problem we are facing in the country.” He added.
