Risk to the AU's 2063 agenda from cybercrime

Parliamentarians and stakeholders raised concerns about the problem of cybercrime in Africa during the recently concluded African Internet Governance Forum in Abuja, identifying it as a potential danger to implementing the African Union Agenda 2063.The stakeholders urged African nations to work together and invest adequately in order to combat cybercrime. A communiqué states that "Cybercrime remains a potential threat to the implementation of the AU 2063 agenda and the AU's digital transformation strategy." "African Union and African Government to ensure adequate investment in the fight against cybercrime activities, ensure international cooperation, and capacity building for lawmakers and enforcement actors, the judiciary, and other necessary actors."
