This was said in a statement released on Wednesday by NAICOM in Abuja. When the NAICOM management, led by Sunday Thomas, the Commissioner for Insurance, visited Bayero, the honor was presented to him. According to Thomas, the emir won the award because of his great leadership style and acceptance of insurance. The emir had earlier stated that insurance was a crucial component of human existence and that, thanks to the advent of takaful insurance, thorough research had demonstrated that it did not conflict with religious beliefs. The emir promised to support insurance deepening in the country.
