Uganda's anti-gay law causes a diplomatic crisis with the US and a $200 million loss
Several US businesses covered by the Africa Growth Opportunity Act (Agoa) have stopped doing business with Uganda as a result of the passage of Uganda's anti-gay law.In particular, some US businesses that are covered by the Africa Growth Opportunity Act (Agoa) have stopped buying textiles from Uganda. This declaration was delivered by President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala during the passing-out ceremony for Uganda Prisons Service personnel. The president of Uganda reportedly said, "The homosexuals in the US are interfering with our export of textiles," according to a report published in the East African, an East African news outlet. There have been some cancellations of orders. However, he said, "I am not worried about it because the money you have been wasting on the used clothing and importing other people's textiles is considerably more than what we will make from the sales to the US.
