When ECOWAS declares the military intervention's start date, it hopes for a peaceful resolution with Niger

The Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas), the principal regional organization in West Africa, announced that it had decided on an unnamed "D-Day" for a potential military intervention to restore democracy in Niger if diplomatic efforts fail, stressing that it would not engage in endless negotiations with the defiant junta. The comments were made at the end of a two-day gathering of West African army generals in Ghana's capital Accra, where they deliberated logistics and strategy for the potential use of force in Niger, according to Reuter, a global news agency. Such action would be a last resort, according to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). "We are ready to go anytime the order is given," ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Abdel-Fatau Musah said during the closing ceremony. "The D-Day is also decided, which we are not going to disclose."
