A presidential committee wants to prevent 63 government bodies from collecting money

The new development would go against the goals that have already been established for agencies to reach. The recently established Presidential Tax Commitee has suggested that the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) handle all aspects of revenue collection. In an interview with Channels Television, Taiwo Oyedele, the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Tax Policy and Fiscal Reforms, revealed this. President Tinubu established the Presidential Committee on Tax Policy and Fiscal Reforms in July, and it was given the task of overseeing various facets of tax law reform, fiscal policy design and coordination, tax harmonisation, and revenue management. Oyedele claims that there is a significant revenue deficit in the neighborhood of #20 trillion and that 63 government institutions, including the Nigerian Customs Service, Nigeria Ports Authority, and Nigerian Postal Service stop all forms of revenue collection and hand over such duties to the FIRS.
