Obaseki raises the minimum wage to #40,000 and mandates that employees work from home twice a week

Obaseki committed to cooperate with the state's electricity firms to increase power supply to homes and businesses in order to reduce energy costs.Because of the rising cost of living, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has raised the state's minimum salary from 30,000 to 40,000.On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Obaseki issued a statement announcing the development. Following the termination of gasoline subsidies by the federal government, food and fuel prices have skyrocketed across the country. To mitigate the impact of the policy on Edo workers, the state government committed in a statement signed by the governor to enhance workers' wages "if more allocation accrues to our State from the Federal Government in view of the expected savings occasioned by the removal of the fuel subsidy."
