New Abia governor Alex Otti freezes state's bank accounts

Otti also ordered the immediate dissolution of all government agency and parastatal boards.Governor Alex Otti of Abia has ordered the immediate freeze of all State Government accounts as well as those of agencies domiciled in the country's banks and other financial institutions.Otti's decision was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, on Tuesday in Umuahia. With the notification, Ekeoma declared that "all banks and other financial institutions in the country are directed to immediately cease honouring any cheques, documents, instruments, or directives of any kind that are not expressly approved by or emanating from him." He further alleged that the governor ordered the immediate dissolution of all boards of government agencies and parastatals, and that this was followed by an order to dissolve all boards of government agencies and parastatals.
