The Kogi government has approved a retirement age of 65 years for teachers

Two more laws were enacted by the parliamentarians on Thursday, which looked to be part of the seventh Assembly's mop-up efforts.The Kogi government has set the retirement age for teachers in the state at 65 years old.Matthew Kolawale, a House peaker, stated that with the adoption of the bill, teachers in the state will now be entitled to retire at the age of 65 or 40 years of pensionable service, whichever comes first. "The Public Service Rule or any legislation requiring a person to retire from the public service at 60 years of age or after 35 years of service shall not apply to teachers in Kogi from the date of the commencement of this law," he stated.
