Sanwo-Olu launches the first fleet of electric buses in Lagos

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced the first batch of electric buses under the Lagos Mass Transit Master Plan as part of efforts to modernize every sector of Lagos. On Sunday, April 30, 2023, the governor made the announcement in a tweet, noting that the new electric buses will not only reduce carbon emissions but will also boost efficiency. The electric buses, which can go 280 kilometers on a single charge, are expected to revolutionize public transit in Lagos, given the state's unique journey times. There is no need to worry about buses breaking down with an average daily usage of 200km by existing BRTs.This means that Lagosians can say goodbye to high fuel costs and hello to cost-efficient transportation. The pilot scheme will run over the next few months to gather sufficient data required to analyse the operational efficiencies relative to the current BRT buses to further improve the public transport service.
