Nigerian citizens would be evacuated from Sudan by the FG, according to NiDCOM

The head of NiDCOM added that organizations working in help were looking for ways to reach people with food, water, and medical supplies.Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa reports that the organization is putting plans in place to evacuate Nigerians from Sudan.She clarified, however, that no flights could possibly depart at this time. This information can be found in a statement made by Gabriel Odu, of the NIDCOM's media, public relations, and protocols unit in Abuja. According to Dabiri-Erewa, plans for the evacuation of students and nationals stuck in Sudan have been made by the Nigerian Mission in Sudan and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). She said that the tense situation in Sudan made it “risky and impossible for any flights at this point in time”. According to her, aircrafts parked at the airport were burnt. She also said humanitarian groups were seeking ways of getting food, water and medicals across to people. She appealed to the warring parties to consider the Juba Peace Agreement pronounced by Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
