Sultan declares Friday Sallah as new moon sighted

The Sultan added urged all Muslims to keep up their prayers for the nation's stability and harmony.The first day of Shawwal, 1444 AH, has been declared in Nigeria on Friday, April 21, according to Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).The Sultan added urged all Muslims to keep up their prayers for the nation's stability and harmony. Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar, follows the fasting month of Ramadan, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He urged Muslims to maintain the routines and conduct displayed throughout the month-long fast of Ramadan and to pray for the nation's leaders. The sighting of the new moon signified the first day of Shawwal in which the Muslim Ummah celebrate Sallah and end the compulsory fasting of Ramadan
