APC will summon the IGP to testify in Tinubu's alleged drug case.

According to the APC, Tinubu was cleared of any drug convictions as a result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Government through the IGP. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed that President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been cleared of an alleged drug conviction in the United States of America. This was stated in the party's processes filed at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), where it argued that Tinubu was duly qualified to run for president in 2023 after an investigation cleared him of any indictment. The APC claimed that the Federal Government had dealt decisively with the allegation of drug conviction against the former Lagos State governor through the Inspector General of Police as early as 2003. It thus informed the PEPC sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja of its intention to seek a subpoena against the IGP in order for him to produce and tender in evidence the letter dated February 3, 2003, with reference number SR.3000 /IGP SEC/ABJ/VOL, 24/287, which triggered the clearance letter of the US Embassy in Nigeria, as well as the response to same dated February 4, 2003. The party also argued that Tinubu's forfeiture to the US government, which had lasted 30 years, could no longer be used to challenge his eligibility to run in the presidential election.
