According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Makinde announced the name change during the institution's second convocation on Friday at the University Hall, Tech U. According to the governor, who serves as the university's Visitor, the institution has come a long way since its humble beginnings. "Looking at this, today is a good day to honor my predecessor, who founded the university," Makinde said. "So, we have decided to rename this university Sen. Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan."
