Saudi Arabia celebrates Eid-El-Fitr on Wednesday even if it doesn't see the moon

Saudi Arabia declared that the fasting month of Ramadan would come to an end in 2024 on Wednesday, which also happens to be the start of Shawwal and Eid.This choice was made in response to Monday, April 8, 2024, not seeing the new crescent moon across the nation.According to the notification, Shawwal's first day of Ramadan will fall on Wednesday, and the fast will finish on the 30th. Leading news source in the Kingdom, Haramain News, released a statement stating this. As quoted by Daily Trust, the statement reads, “The crescent moon was NOT sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10 2024.” The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, has instructed followers of Islam to keep an eye out for the sighting of the new crescent of Shawwal.
