CJ of Akwa Ibom pardons 45 inmates
According to the Chief Judge, some of the released inmates had spent more years in prison than the penalty for the offense they were charged with. During her facility visit to the Correctional Centres, Akwa Ibom Chief Judge, Justice Ekaette Obot, released 45 inmates across the state. NAN also reports that during the visit, three inmates from Ikot Abasi were pardoned, nine were discharged and acquitted in Eket, 11 inmates were also released from Ikot Ekpene, and 22 inmates were released from Uyo correctional centers. According to the chief judge, some of the released inmates had spent more years in prison than the penalty for the offense they were charged with.
