Customs to reopen border with Niger Republic

Nigeria blocked its borders with the Niger Republic after the West African country's military overthrew its government.Everything is ready for the reopening of the Illela border to the Niger Republic, according to the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), pending the final approval from higher authorities.During a working visit to the Illela border, Comptroller Kamal Mohammed, the Area Controller of the Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command of the NCS, revealed this to stakeholders. Nigeria closed its borders with Niger Republic on the directives of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWA) following a military coup in that nation. However, during its special meeting on the peace, stability, and security of the Sahel, ECOWAS recently eased certain sanctions against Niger and two other Sahelian countries.
