As FG pays more than $120 million to settle gas debts, the supply of power should soon improve

According to the minister of electricity, the country's recent decline in power generation was caused by gas suppliers stopping delivery to producers because of their debt to them.The Federal Government of Nigeria has reported that it has paid over $120 million of the $1.3 billion owing to gas firms for the supply of gas to power producing facilities in the nation, thus there may be hope for the country's energy customers.Nigerians are now seeing a sharp reduction in the amount of electricity supplied to their homes and workplaces due to a sharp decline in power generation since the year's beginning. The decision by gas providers to stop supplying gas to power plants nationwide due to the industry's debt to producers has been identified as the root cause of the current power crisis.
