Higher education institutions are not allowed to collect tuition in dollars or NUC

The executive secretary added that other institutions would be approved by the commission in the future as long as they met the requirements and had the potential to be sustainable.The National Universities Commission (NUC) reaffirmed on Thursday that tuition fees in dollars are not permitted at any postsecondary educational institution in Nigeria.During a press conference with reporters covering education in Abuja, Chris Maiyaki, the Acting Executive Secretary of the NUC, emphasized this.He was responding to a declaration made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in which the commission invited Nigerian private university and other higher education institution owners to accept payments in US dollars. According to Maiyaki, the commission looked into the claim and as a result found that the aforementioned private institution was not collecting tuition in dollars.
