"People need to be taxed by the government," Wike tells FCT citizens

According to the minister, funding is required by the government to develop the FCT.In order for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration to be able to provide essential infrastructure in the nation's capital, Minister Nyesom Wike has urged citizens of the FCT to pay their taxes and ground rent.After touring project sites in Abuja for inspection on Tuesday, Wike made the plea, emphasizing the necessity for government funding to create essential infrastructure."Like we have always said to the elites in the FCT – they want roads, they want a good environment, they want streetlights everywhere, but the government does not print money. "Government needs to tax people and then use that money for the development of the area. So, I will always plead with everybody that they should try as much as they can, to pay their ground rents," he said.
