Labour Party suffers defeat as PDP's Mbah wins Enugu governorship

After a closely fought governorship election, the PDP was able to retain Enugu State. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has been declared the winner of the Enugu State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Mbah defeated his main opponent, Labour Party party candidate Chijioke Edeoga, to win a hotly contested race. The INEC Returning Officer for Enugu State, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, announced the winner on Wednesday night, saying Mbah received 160,895 votes to defeat his main rival, Edeoga, who received 157,552 votes.
