The senator claimed that during the previous three months, a similar gesture had benefited 1,000 kids.On Wednesday, Senator Ibrahim Lamido (APC-Sokoto-East) started awarding bursaries totaling ?142 million to 2,840 Sokoto State natives enrolled in postsecondary institutions.Lamido announced at the flag-off in Sokoto that the recipients came from his senatorial district's eight local government units.Each pupil would receive ?50,000, he said. Alhaji Muhammad Alaaro, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Illela Local Government Area, represented the senator. He said that the initiative was to support students from the state in view of the economic hardship in the country.
